Description:

Our motto – Learning and Fun must go together. A student at the ranch is never bored! Let’s get into why:

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. 24 Karat Ranch is very excited to introduce your children from grades 1 to 5 to a revolutionary Equestrian and Farm Sciences Summer Fun Workshop where STEAM is taught in a fun way using our cute farm animals, farm equipment, lake, and plants. There will be a separate curriculum for grades 1-3, and 4-5. 

The program is crafted by two engineers who are also the owners of the ranch and live on the farm along with their high school son. The program will consist of unique experiences including animal interactions, farm life chores, engineering challenges, science experiments, and cool sports activities.

Running for 3 weeks (you can book for week 1, 2 or 3 individually), each week-long session will incorporate STEAM and farm values into learning unique topics about science in a way not seen at school, as well as ensuring kids get appropriate physical activity in an enjoyable way.

Week One will mainly focus on biology. We will review the body structures and functions of humans, farm animals, and plants and discuss how these structures differ. We will have live reviews, interactive experiments, and of course, animal interactions in which participants will utilize the scientific method to make observations about the animals. Students will also learn about plant structures and view their cells under a microscope.

Week 2 is all about physics and engineering. This involves a basic understanding of physics, using tools like model rockets as well as learning how farm animals use physics to move their bodies. On the final day, they will launch the rocket as part of a competition among campers. They will also build robots and use the engineering process to solve fun and engaging challenges along the way. Our most popular miniature goat named T-Rex will make appearances and even attempt to wrestle with the robots :}

Week 3 is all about Computer Science and Engineering. This will include software fundamentals, coding techniques (no prior knowledge required), creating a video game, and you may be even program a robot.

We have excellent qualified counselors who love teaching kids. Throughout the week, kids will also have visits from experts in the Science and Technology fields for science demonstrations in cool and interesting ways.

Students will also conduct various engineering challenges, complete craft projects, and use technology by coding, making robots, and much more!

Mia Gardner-Zambarano is a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in working with children/adolescent, young adults, and athletes. The workshop is based on her book "The Happy Calendar Book" to help children prepare for their school week with awesome activities. Each day is a new adventure for Louie and his mother. Various themes in this book are skillfully combined with live interactions with Little Goats to provide a stimulating and fun learning for your child as well as you (as parents).

24 Karat Ranch specialized in farm animal-assisted and neuroscience powered wellness offerings. In this workshop, kids will be safely observing and interacting with little, baby goats to learn from their social behaviors in a fun way. Why Goats ? Goats have an ancient relationship with humans, they were likely the first animals to be domesticated. Little Goats at 24 Karat Ranch are all miniature variety goats specially trained for human interactions. You and your little one can not resist laughing, enjoying, interacting and opening up to accelerated learning in the presence of these cute creatures. Our other farm animals including miniature cows, mini horses and mini donkeys will also make guest appearances and provide learning interactions.

• Book reading with author and psychotherapist Mia Gardner-Zambarano
• Activity Stations with the Little Goats; Mile Monday, Talking Tuesday, Watchful Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, Fitness Friday, Self-care Saturday, Sunshine Sunday.
• Share your favorite day and what you did with the animals
• Explain creating your own Happy Calendar co-created by the child and her parent(s)
• After completing all the interactive stations, Mia will review The Happy Calendar Book / Diary with your Child's notes & observations. Children will be encouraged to share their favorite day with the rest of the group.
• Book Signing by Mia Gardner-Zambarano at the end of the workshop

The learning is designed as a small group interactive experience for a personalized attention, and hence number of seats are limited and available on a first come first serve basis.

Note: One ticket includes participation of One Parent + One Child only. If both the parents or another relative would like to attend (or a sibling would like to attend) - please buy another ticket. The workshop is designed for elementary school children ages 5-9 years old.
